Swedish Higher Education System
Higher Education in Sweden is offered at three levels:
- Bachelor’s (undergraduate)
- Master’s (graduate)
- and PhD (doctoral)
Bachelor’s (undergraduate)
You have opportunity to do your Bachelor’s program in nearly 100 of courses that too are taught in English. A bachelor’s degree combines in-depth study in your specialized area with studies in complementary subjects. Studies combine theory and practice and a lot of activities that give you great exposure.
Bachelor’s programs – three years of study – 180 ECTS credits
Master’s (graduate)
As much as over 900 programs of master’s level courses currently offered in English in Sweden. Master’s programs are a balanced combine study of theory and practical and encourage critical and creative thinking.
You can complete your Master’s program in two years of study, for a total of 60 or 120 ECTS credits. The structure: advanced coursework followed by a research-based master’s thesis.
Coursework usually consists of compulsory core courses as well as elective courses in related fields. This allows you to develop advanced knowledge in your area and specialize according to your specific interests.
Eligible for entry to a master’s degree in Sweden: you must have completed a bachelor’s degree or equivalent apart from other general and program-specific entry requirements.
PhD (doctoral program)
Sweden is among the best options in the world for doing your PhD studies.
PhD programs usually consist of a minimum of four years of full-time study, or 240 ECTS credits.
PHD programs are extensively research oriented. This means most of the time you are engaged in research activities in your chosen study. Theoretical studies comprise of small courses and seminars which are also very important part of your PHD.
All PhD students receive individual tutoring and theses are publicly defended. Some departments may require that the thesis be part of an ongoing project within the department. If your PhD is in the fields of technology, natural science and medicine, you’ll often work as part of a team.
The best part of Swedish PhD; you do not have to pay fees for your PhD program; rather you will get a monthly salary. PhD positions are usually offered as paid positions by universities or external funding bodies.

Admissions Process for Study in Sweden
Step 1 – Knowing about you

Step 2 – University & Program Selection
Shortlisting 3-4 universities and course that match your profile and requirement.
Step 3 – Documents for admission
We ensure that your documents including mark sheets, essays, statement of purpose, recommendation letters, and resume are ready to sending to the universities.
Step 4 – Application submission
We guide you in filling the University application form carefully without any mistakes. Now we send the application form and documents to the chosen universities. There is a non-refundable application fee for admission for universities. There is an application fees of approximately SEK 900
Step 5 – Receiving offer letter
You may receive an admission offer letter from the universities within 8-10 weeks of application submission. It can be as quick as even 1-2 weeks if the university accepts online applications only.

Getting Swedish Student Visa
All visas applications are sent to Sweden and processed in approx. 90 days. Students are advised to opt for online method for submitting the Visa application. You need to make an online payment of SEK 1,000 as Visa fees.
Applying for a Swedish Student Visa:
- Admission confirmation to a Swedish university and prepare the documents (mentioned below)
- Upload all the documents online by logging to Migrationsverket Website.
- Pay the visa fee of SEK 1,000 through a Debit or Credit Card
- Receive confirmation from the consulate/ embassy
- Submit your biometric information and photograph at the nearest embassy/ consulate office of Sweden on receiving the email
Mandatory Document for Student Visa Application:
- Admission enrolment letter from a Swedish Academic Institution that clearly states the course duration and that you have paid the first instalment of the university tuition fees
- A valid passport – should be issued not earlier than 10 years preceding the time of application
- Proof of funds to pay for the course you are enrolled in as well as support your stay in Sweden. This could be in the form of a scholarship/ sponsor (public or private), student loan or own funds to the tune of SEK 7,974 for each month of your stay in Sweden.
- Class 10th 12th and/or Bachelors (whichever applicable) Mark-sheet and Certificate showing clearly the year of completion of the course.
- An essay of 1000 character (roughly 150 words) explaining why you have chosen Sweden as the country for your studies. You need to convince the Swedish visa authority about your current studies and future plan post education in Sweden.
- Curriculum vitae, experience letter (if applicable)
